Grizedale is famous for its outdoors sculpture and is home to over 60 sited throughout the forest. The collection has been developed since the late 1970s and provides a unique opportunity for you to explore the forest in new and different ways.
Art Roots Grizedale is a major new commissioning programme designed to reinvigorate Grizedale Forest as a centre of international excellence for art in the environment.
The main aims of the arts development programme are to reinvigorate the forest based sculpture programme, establish the art archive within the visitor centre and integrate art within Grizedale’s people engagement work. Two new installations were placed in October 2011 as the first phase of the programme: The Clockwork Forest, on the Ridding Wood Trail and The Wood for the Trees, in the visitor centre courtyard.
